How we match the right car parking shade design to your site

Every car shade we build has three parts: the steel structure that carries the load, the shade fabric that blocks the sun, and the concrete footing that holds it all down. The “type” is mostly about the structure: where the columns stand and how the roof is shaped. Two names on our list describe the fabric (PVC and HDPE) and one describes the setting (outdoor shades for homes), because that is how many of our clients search. Here is what each group gives you.

Post-supported designs: pyramid, arch and canopy

With our post-supported shades, the roof sits on columns at the corners or along both sides of your bays. Because several posts share the load, the steel and footings are lighter, which keeps your cost per bay down. The trade-off: a column stands at the front of the bays, so drivers steer around it. For large open car parks where budget matters most, this is usually the best value we can offer you.

Cantilever designs: single, double, T and cobra

With our cantilever shades your bays stay completely open: the whole roof is carried from one line of columns at the back or centre, so there are no posts in front of your cars and no scratched doors. Parking and reversing are easier, which your staff and visitors notice every day. The columns and footings are heavier, so a cantilever typically costs a little more than a pyramid for the same bays.

Fabric-led and setting-led choices: PVC, HDPE and outdoor

We can cover any structure above in PVC or HDPE. Your fabric choice decides whether the roof is waterproof or breathable, how much heat builds up underneath and how the shade looks after years in the sun. We bring samples to your site visit so you can see and feel the difference.

How we help you choose a parking shade for your site

On our free site visit, we narrow your project down to two or three options with five simple questions. You can answer them now to get a head start.

  1. How are your bays arranged? One row against a boundary wall points to a single cantilever. Two rows facing each other across a central line suit a double cantilever. A median or island row fits a T cantilever. Open blocks of many bays are usually most economical with pyramid modules.
  2. How much clear space do your drivers need? If they reverse in, or large SUVs and pickups use the bays, front columns cause scrapes. Any of our cantilever designs removes that problem.
  3. Is rain cover or air flow your priority? For full rain cover and complete shade, we recommend PVC, which costs more but is waterproof. For less heat under the roof and a lighter structure, HDPE, the most economical fabric.
  4. How visible is your car park? Frontages, hotels and municipal buildings often justify a cobra, arch or canopy design. Back-of-house staff parking rarely does, and we will tell you so.
  5. What can your ground take? Cantilever columns need larger footings. If your area has buried services, a thin slab or existing asphalt, our survey checks this before we recommend a type.

You then get a layout drawing and a written quotation for the option you prefer, often with a second option for comparison.

Umbrella Parking Shades

The right type of car parking shade for your city in Saudi Arabia

Our base is on King Saud St, Al Faiha, Dammam, and much of our work is in the Eastern Province, where coastal humidity in Dammam, Al Khobar and Jubail attacks bare steel. There we fit hot-dip galvanised frames under any design, so your shade does not rust within a few summers. In Riyadh and Al Kharj, the main enemy is heat and dust: breathable HDPE over cantilever or pyramid frames keeps your cars cooler on large inland car parks. On the Red Sea coast, in Jeddah, Yanbu and Jazan, salty sea air shortens the life of untreated steel and fittings, so we treat galvanising and fixings as seriously as the roof shape. In Taif, where rain is more frequent, we recommend arch and pyramid roofs that shed water quickly.

We build for hospitals, universities and schools, malls, mosques, government offices, industrial plants and residential compounds, and for villa owners who want one or two covered bays at home, each with a free survey and a written quotation.

How we deliver your car parking shade

  1. Free site survey: we measure your bays, check access, levels and underground services, and note wind exposure.
  2. Design and quotation: our engineers propose a type, prepare the layout and structural drawings, size the columns and footings, and send you a written quotation before you pay anything.
  3. Permit support: where your site needs a Balady permit, we prepare the shade drawings and work with a licensed engineering office to file it.
  4. Fabrication: steel is cut, welded and coated, and the fabric is patterned and sewn in our own Dammam workshop.
  5. Installation: our own crews cast the footings, erect the steel, tension the fabric and hand you a clean site: 1–2 days for a villa carport, about 2–4 weeks for 10–20 bays.

Choosing fabric and colour with our help

PVC-coated polyester is waterproof and gives you a solid roof, ideal where people walk under it in winter rain. HDPE knitted fabric lets hot air escape through the weave, so it stays cooler underneath, blocks up to 95% of UV and usually costs less. PTFE fibreglass membrane is our premium architectural fabric for landmark projects, with a typical life of 25+ years. GRP panels give a rigid roof. Lighter colours reflect more heat; darker shades such as green, blue or grey hide dust better between washes. You can choose any of our 12 colours on every type, and we match them across your whole car park.

Keep your shade looking new for years

  • Hose off dust and sand every few weeks, more often after a sandstorm. Avoid harsh solvents on PVC.
  • After strong winds, check that the fabric is still tight. A slack panel flaps, wears faster and lets sand collect.
  • Look at column bases and bolts once a year, especially on coastal sites, and touch up any scratched coating.
  • Keep car covers, ladders and roof racks from rubbing against the fabric edges.

Prefer to leave it to us? Our annual maintenance plans, quoted after we inspect your shade, cover re-tensioning, cleaning, repairs, repainting and fabric replacement when it is due.

What you pay for each type of car parking shade

The design you choose is one of the biggest factors in your price. Pyramid modules are our most economical structure; cantilever designs typically cost somewhat more for the same bays, and cobra designs use heavier steel again. Your exact price comes in a written quotation after our free site survey, with nothing hidden. Other factors

  • Fabric: HDPE usually costs less than PVC, and PTFE costs the most (quoted per project).
  • Number of bays: larger projects spread the engineering and mobilisation cost, so you get volume pricing.
  • Steel finish: hot-dip galvanising costs more than painted mild steel, but lasts far longer near the sea.
  • Foundations: cutting asphalt, removing old shades or building on poor soil adds work.
  • Location and access: distance from Dammam, working hours and site access rules on industrial or Aramco sites.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Cantilever and pyramid shades are the two designs our clients ask for most. Cantilever wins where you need open bays with no front columns, such as offices, hospitals and villas. Pyramid modules win on large open car parks where cost per bay matters most. We confirm the right choice for your layout during the free site visit.

Pyramid designs such as pyramid bottom support usually cost you the least per bay, because several light columns and small footings share the load. A cantilever typically costs a little more, and cobra designs more again. Fabric matters too: HDPE is the most economical, PVC costs more but keeps out rain. For your exact figure, we visit free of charge and send a written quotation; WhatsApp +966 55 017 1295 to book.

Yes, and we often recommend it. Many of our sites have a cobra or arch design at the main entrance for appearance, with cantilever or pyramid rows behind it for most of the bays. We match the fabric colour across all types so your car park looks like one project.

We engineer every type for SBC 301 wind loads and Shamal winds. What matters is correct column and footing sizes and tight fabric. Breathable HDPE lets some wind pass through, which reduces load on the frame; for solid PVC we design the structure for the full wind pressure.

Some sites need a Balady carport permit, and rules differ by city and property type. We prepare the shade drawings and work with a licensed engineering office to file it for you, so you are not left handling it alone.

Our standard clear height is 2.5 m, which suits saloon cars and most SUVs. Pickups with racks, vans, ambulances or delivery trucks need a taller frame. Tell us the tallest vehicle that will park underneath and we will set the height to match.

You get 10 years’ warranty on the steel structure and 5–10 years on the fabric. Typical fabric life is 8–12 years for HDPE, 10–15 years for PVC and 25+ years for PTFE, and hot-dip galvanised steel outlasts painted mild steel, especially near the coast. When fabric eventually wears, we replace it on the same frame.
